Nickel based alloys are very useful materials for the manufacture of high quality tubing products. One of the key reasons is that they offer excellent corrosion resistance in both aqueous and high temperature applications.

 

In addition to their high melting points and resistance to oxidation and corrosion, nickel alloys are very ductile. They can be electroplated and are easily welded, making them suitable for use in industries where very high and low temperatures come into play.

 

Nickel based alloys have a higher ability to accept alloying elements in solid solution than other stainless steel or iron-based alloys. They can therefore maintain higher metallurgical stability. The combination of high alloying with multiple elements can provide very good corrosion resistance in a wide range of environments while still maintaining good welding and forming characteristics.

 

Nickel alloys are excellent for heat exchangers in the chemical processing and nuclear industries. They’re used in steam generator tubing in the nuclear power industry, in high-temperature aircraft systems, and in oil and gas extraction programmes where corrosion-, pressure- and temperature-resistant tubing is required. Their corrosion resistance also makes them useful in desalination equipment.

ALLOY 20 NICKEL TUBING

Alloy 20 is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy developed for applications involving sulfuric acid. Its corrosion resistance also finds other uses in the chemical, food, pharmaceutical, power generation and plastics industries. Alloy 20 nickel tubing resists pitting and chloride ion corrosion and its copper content protects it from sulfuric acid.

 

Typical applications include tanks, piping, heat exchangers, pumps, valves.

Alloy 200 nickel tubing is commercially pure wrought nickel, with good mechanical properties, excellent resistance to many corrosives.

 

Typical applications include a variety of processing equipment, particularly to maintain product purity in handling foods, synthetic fibers, and alkalies.

Alloy C276 seamless nickel tubing is a nickel-molybdenum-chromium alloy with addition of tungsten having excellent corrosion resistance in a wide range of severe environments. The high molybdenum content makes this alloy especially resistant to pitting and crevice corrosion. The low carbon content minimizes carbide precipitation during welding to maintain corrosion resistance in as-welded structures.

 

Typical applications: pollution control, chemical processing, pulp and paper production, and waste treatment.

Alloy 400 Seamless Nickel Tubing

High strength, good weldability, excellent corrosion resistance over a wide range of temperatures and conditions.

 

Typical applications: valves, pumps, marine fixtures, feedwater heaters, heat exchangers, petroleum refining and production equipment.

Alloy 600 seamless nickel tubing is a nickel-chromium alloy with good oxidation resistance to 2000 degree F. Good strength and resistance to general corrosion in a variety of elements.

 

Resists stress-corrosion cracking.

Typical applications: thermocouple, furnace muffles, heat exchangers
