What's The Difference Between Steel And Stainless Steel
Jun 14, 2018

Steel is a "iron carbon alloy" with a carbon content below 2%. This steel is called "carbon steel".

Carbon steel is divided into low carbon steel, medium carbon steel and high carbon steel according to the amount of carbon.

Adding other alloy elements into the steel is called "alloy steel".

The purpose of smelting alloy steel is to meet the needs of production and life.

Stainless steel is a kind of alloy steel, adding more Ci, Ni and other metal alloy elements.

Stainless steel

The common stainless steel is divided into two types: ferritic stainless steel and austenitic stainless steel.

Ferritic stainless steel is a body centered lattice with magnetic properties.  For example, 1Ci13 and 2Ci13. are often used for tableware and decorations.

Austenitic stainless steel is a face centered lattice with no magnetism. For example, 1Ci18Ne9T is used in chemical industry, medicine and food industry.

If someone says that using magnet to distinguish stainless steel, it is not comprehensive.
