DIN Standard Copper Nickel Flanges

DIN standard flanges are most common standard in shipbuilding.

 

There are four main standards as below:

Disadvantages of using composite weld neck flanges:

The pressure is low. The pressure on shipment building is low, so composite weld neck flanges are very popular on shipment building.

Copper Nickel Weld Neck Flanges

TS copper nickel weld neck flanges are a kind of copper nickel flanges, which refers to a flange with a weld neck and transition of a round pipe and welded to the pipe.


The difference between copper nickel weld neck flanges and copper nickel slip on flange is that there is a long, inclined high-necked flange between the flange and the pipe-welded part of the flange, and the wall thickness of this high-necked part.


The gradual transition to the wall thickness in the height direction improves the discontinuity of the stress and thus increases the copper nickel flanges strength.

Copper Nickel Socket Weld Flanges

TS copper nickel socket flange ’s basic shape is the same as copper nickel slip on flanges. That is, a certain bore hole is formed in the inner hole of the copper nickel flange.

The pipe is inserted into the bore hole and welded.

 

Welding a circle of welds on the back of the flange, due to gaps between the socket flange and the groove, easy to produce corrosion,

if a seam is welded inside to avoid such corrosion.

TS copper nickel socket weld flanges welded on both inner and outer sides have a fatigue strength that is 5% greater than copper nickel slip on flanges and the same static strength.

 

When using copper nickel socket weld flange, its inner diameter needs to be the same as the inner diameter of the pipe. The socket weld flange is only suitable for pipes with a nominal diameter of 150 ( 4 inch ) or less.

Copper Nickel Threaded Flanges

TS copper nickel threaded flanges are made by machining the inner bore of a flange into a pipe thread, and are connected to a threaded pipe to make a connection.


This is a non-welding flange. Compared with the copper nickel weld neck flanges and copper nickel slip on flanges, the copper nickel threaded flanges are easy to install and maintain, and can be used on pipelines that are not allowed to be welded on site.


But in the pipeline temperature changes sharply or the temperature is higher than 20 °C below -45 °C conditions. We do not recommend using the copper nickel threaded flange to prevent leakage.

 

Threaded Type: NPT, BSPT

The sealing surface of the copper nickel threaded flange has two types, raised face and flat face.
